Between 1926 and 1933, only 199 trim motors were built in Ford's own factory. Well sheet on large, thick single-cover wings was a German development that was used in Junker JU 52 aircraft that flew on the Berlin-Rom-London route. Trim motors were flown by airlines, oil companies and wealthy private individuals. The Ford Trimotor and the Junkers JU-52 were groundbreaking aircraft that led to generations of Douglas and Boeing aircraft fleets that soon crossed the whole world.
